Our story · Three threads, one weave

Everything we've lived, distilled into one practice

Sumbea is what happens when a decade of walking the world's great communities meets the land that regenerates them and the circles that hold them together. Three stories — road, land, and circle — woven into a single studio.

Community & strategy

The road

Years spent living inside nearly a thousand retreat centers, ecovillages, monasteries, farms, and houseboats across six continents — from Findhorn to Damanhur, Bali to Hawaii. Every Summit we ran, every circle we held, every system we studied became part of a living library of what makes communities actually work.

What it taught us: a thriving place is designed, not wished into being.

Regeneration & permaculture

The land

Hands in the soil of Central Portugal — regenerating orchards, building food forests, designing water systems and syntropic agroforestry through Awakening Eden. Whole properties read from ridge to valley, turned from overwhelm into living systems that feed people, pollinators, and the landscape itself.

What it taught us: land heals fast when someone finally listens to it.

Community & healing arts

The circle

Women's work, ritual, and ceremony carried from Colombia to Portugal — Still Waters, Women's Elixir, the Tierra Mágica tribe. The quiet craft of turning a group of residents into a real community: shared practice, honest circles, and the medicine each person already carries — tu medicina eres tú.

What it taught us: buildings don't make a village — belonging does.

Every place taught us something the last one couldn't. That's the library we bring to your land.

About us · A team-led studio

A small team devoted to the places people heal, play, and belong.

Sumbea is a studio for community, ecovillage, and retreat center development — built by people who have actually lived inside these places.

Between us we've walked nearly a thousand holistic centers across six continents — tents, farms, houseboats, monasteries, food forests, and retreat halls — studying what makes a place genuinely healthy, joyful, and able to last. Out of that journey came this studio: the most magical places on earth, stitched together into one quiet invitation, designed so our children can care for them for generations to come.

Please join us. Message us with any questions — we're welcoming every interested participant, because it's going to take a whole planet to rebuild the magnificent, magical home we all share.
